ChaCha TukTuk Rough Start Sketch
The Task
After building a captivating prototype, Jadu decided to flesh out the game by launching characters that players can unlock. My task was develop a cohesive 3D character style, onboard a team of artists, and collaborate with the creative director, rigging, animation, and engineering stakeholders to launch the game with the best characters possible.
My Approach
One of the challenges in the character design process was honing in on the creative direction. We tried lots of iterations, in 2D and in 3D, in order to arrive at the final character designs. I provided ample feedback to the artists, and navigated creative discussions with the CEO/Game Director and Creative Director to make sure everyone felt that the ideas were explored to their fullest extent, felt in alignment, and stayed on schedule and under budget.

ChaCha TukTuk Final Game Models
Results
We successfully designed 5 complete character models, in addition to thousands of other assets for different app features such as asset bundles, campaign mode environment assets, and avatar collections for the J7 release. The team established a cadence among each other, as well as adapted to the art style and each artist can now teach the techniques of the art style. As I moved into my new role of Head of 3D, the modeling team was well established and had no trouble in the transition.
